Beaches & Swimming pools

Here is an overview of the places suitable for swimming in the region.

Beaches for swimming*

The Neuchâtel coastline is easily accessible and offers many places to swim, play sports and relax Most of the beaches are equipped with barbecues which are freely accessible to the public.

How to get there:

  • on foot: there are lovely walks to the beaches, you can choose to walk there and return by public transport for example.
  • by bike: you can borrow one free of charge from Neuchatelroule (subject to availability)
  • by public transport (free with the Neuchâtel Tourist Card): by tram along the eastern coastline or by bus to the west.

Addresses:

  • Plage des Jeunes-Rives, Neuchâtel: this beach is only 10 minutes’ walk from our hotel. Small restaurants, picnic tables, mini-golf and sports fields (beach volleyball, football, basketball, etc.) nearby.
  • Plage de Serrières: pretty beach, easily accessible by tram (Champ-Bougin stop), or on foot (3km from the hotel)
  • Plage d’Auvernier: the largest in the region, easily accessible by tram (Auvernier stop), or on foot (6km from the hotel). Small restaurant, beach volleyball courts and playground nearby.
  • Plage de Monruz: a small beach less frequented than the others, it can be reached by bus (line 101, Monruz stop), or on foot (3km from the hotel)
  • Plage d’Hauterive: pleasant beach, can be reached by bus (line 101, Port stop), or on foot (4km from the hotel). Restaurant Le Silex, beach volleyball courts, petanque courts, playground, grills and picnic tables. The promenade to the beach of Saint-Blaise is superb (1km)!
  • Plage de Saint-Blaise: very nice beach, accessible by bus (line 101, stop St-Blaise Lac), or on foot (5km from the hotel). Restaurant La Buvette on site with a nice playground, basketball and beach volleyball court.

Swimming pools*

Several open-air pools are open in the summer months.

Piscine du Nid-du-Crô

Olympic-size pool, paddling pool, diving boards, slides, fun pool, giant sandbox, ping pong tables, beach volleyball court! Enough to spend a wonderful day! Access to the lake is also possible.


How to get there:
  • by bus (line 121, stop Piscines, free with the Neuchâtel Tourist Card)
  • on foot (2km from the hotel)
  • by bike: you can borrow one free of charge from Neuchatelroule (subject to availability)
Opening hours and rates
  • Outdoor pools open from 9am to 8pm from mi-May to mid-September.
  • Children up to 16 years: CHF 3.80 / Adults: CHF 7.00

There is a snack bar and a restaurant on site.

Piscine de Serrières

Small swimming pool with free access, located on the edge of Lake Neuchâtel. Pool, paddling pool, playground.

How to get there:
  • by tram (Serrières-Ruau stop, free with the Neuchâtel Tourist Card)
  • on foot (4km from the hotel)
  • by bike: you can borrow one free of charge from Neuchatelroule (subject to availability)

  • opened from June until August

  • admission free

  • Bar on site.

Piscine du Landeron

Slides, paddling pool, play pool, Olympic pool… there’s nothing missing at the Landeron swimming pool!

How to get there:
  • by train to Le Landeron (free with the Neuchâtel Tourist Card), then on foot (10 minutes)
  • by car (20 minutes from the hotel)

Piscine d’Engollon

Olympic pool, children’s pool, slide, diving boards, beach volleyball courts, playground… a pleasant family pool in the middle of the Val-de-Ruz.

How to get there:
  • by car (20 minutes from the hotel view map)
Opening hours and rates
  • Opened 7/7 from 18ht May – 3rd September from 9am to 7pm (8pm during school holidays)
  • Prices: Children between 6 and 16 years CHF 3.00, Adults CHF 7.00
Restaurants:
